TA’AL IS 4 STAR HOTEL:
First of all, you need to know the qualities that rank a hotel as a 4-star or 5-star hotel. Basically the size, facilities and the services rendered as well as the environment of the hotel. Lafia standard rank us as the 5-star hotel but I will like to tell you in line with the global rating I will say Ta’al hotel is a 4-star hotel because of the facilities and services we rendered.

OUR RANGE OF ROOMS AND SERVICE IS IMPEC- CABLE:
Presently Ta’al Conference Hotel has a total of one hundred and fifty-six rooms of different categories to include presidential suite, executive suite of about 20-25. We have super deluxe rooms, standard rooms of about one hundred and fifty-six rooms and different halls of different categories. We have eleven halls ranging from fifteen, thirty, two-hundred, three-hundred and two-thousand.

OUR STAFF ARE POLITE, TRAINED AND PROFES- SIONAL:
At Ta’al Conference Hotels, we place premium on the professional character of our staff. We be- lieve that in running a successful hotel, the caliber of staffs has to be considered. The quality of staff we have on ground from the management staff down to supervisors are all qualified in the sense that they went to catering schools and they have minimum requirements, experience of hotel man- agement of about six years. So that is very important. To be hospitable you have to have passion and as a matter of fact the management staffs down to the supervisory level are trained hospitality personnel. Also the annual regular training upon trainings that we do. We train them very often and we introduce facility, we sent our marketing team to other hotels not only in Lafia but Abuja, Jos, Kaduna, and Makurdi for cross exposure for them to see what we are doing that is not up to standard that we will need to improve on to ensure that we maintain our lead.

MAINTAINING AND REMODELLING IS KEY TO KEEPING FRESH:
The facilities at Ta’al Hotels have improved vastly over the years and we have updated and we are still updating. Our update is on a regular basis. All the facilities we have ranging from rooms, restaurant, the kitchen and everywhere you see us improving and getting the best security, there comfort and so many other things which are not meant to disclose them. We have modern equip- ment, apparatus, digital cameras all over the place, metal dictators, trolleys in the restaurant, kitchen and even in the banquet. We have the most mod- ern of all facilities.

OUR BEGININGS:
Interestingly, we started the concept sometime in 2006. I think I’m one of the person lucky to be consulted by the owner of the hotel before going into the hotel business. In 1997, I was in Lafia before I moved to Kadu- na and on the trail of the project, the owner of the hotel, we met with him in both Kano and Zaria in some ho- tels where I managed. So, sometime around 2005, he called that most of the hotels I managed were of great standard. He said he has been thinking of going into hospitality business but never got whom to confide in. He invited me over to Lafia to have a one on one discussion with him. He had even dug and sunk tanks that he wanted to invest in petroleum business. So, I came to Lafia and gave him reasons on why to invest in hospitality business and he had to even- tually unearth the tanks and fill in the halls there. We came up with a plan and then I had to come all the way from Kaduna every two weeks. That was how we started and we completed the building in 3 years and commenced operations specifically on 14th of April, 2009. As part of the plan, he told me he wanted to decongest the unem- ployment market in Nasarawa, that the people in Nasarawa needed to have something going and he felt this could be an opportunity. That he wanted to bring development to his own area.

Yes, to a large extent, we have succeeded and we are succeeding because currently apart from the extension we are yet to commission with more rooms that means we need more hands to work with. Presently, we have about 125 people on our pay roll and truly, this is a plus to us and the development of the country. I will tell you only God knows people who are benefiting from here back, we never sacked anybody as other hotels are doing. In our own case, we paid all allowances, salaries and everything non- stop. Still we had to streamline for one to work and work well and would be paid for a full month for working just for two weeks in the lockdown, we provided them with all of this personal pro- tective equipment; face masks, shields, sanitizers, thermometers etc. It is very good. Excellent! We keep improving every day.
